General Enquiries

Kitchen units first or floor first?

  • Floating floors (click systems) e.g, Laminate and SPC should not be fitted under the weight of Kitchen units. As you need to allow for expansion of the floor. (Kickboards, Piths & Sideboards can be fitted after installation of floating floors)
  • Glue down floors such as engineered wood or LVT can be fitted fully wall to wall and the kitchen units can be fitted on top.

Do you do fittings and installations?

  • Floor Street are a retailer of floor covering, and we are not an installation company, we do not offer floor installation as a service. 3rd party businesses do all installations, and you pay them directly for that service. These companies are local and trusted contractors have been working with us for years. Your installation guarantee is with the contractor hired to do your work and Floor Street does not endorse and con not accept any responsibility for their work. Floor street is responsible for the products you purchase, and the manufactures warranty covers you for that product.

Here is how it usually works…(within a 25-mile radius of the Birmingham Showroom) 

  • Step 1: Find the floor you love with the help of your decor and technical consultant at Floor Street
  • Step 2: Get a quote based on the measurements you have provided, or we have taken via home visit.
  • Step 3: Purchase your floor and accessories which can be sent direct to you or kept here until needed.
  • Step 4: Contact our trusted fitting partners and book an installation date.
  • Step 5: Wait until your new floor is fitted and enjoy the quality.

Can I order a sample?

  • Yes, you can order a sample for all our flooring and stair runners, the option is on the product page. Click ‘Order a sample’. This can take up to 2-4 working days. These are sized to fit through a letterbox.

Do I need to add any extra for waste for my measurements?

  • Use the Calculator on our website product page to know the exact number of packs you require. This will take into consideration 10% waste for Straight Planks and extra 15% waste for Herringbone.

How to measure my room?

Can I install a new flooring over an existing floor?

  • If the current flooring is fixed to the subfloor and in good condition, you may be able to apply a new floor on top. We also recommend checking with your fitter beforehand.

Can I place an order without creating an account?

Yes. You can place an order as a guest with no obligation to create an account. We do recommend that you create an account, however, if you’d like to check your order history and have your shopping basket items and payment details saved for next time. It’s quick and easy to create an account. Just visit https://floorstreet.co.uk/account/register and follow the instructions on-screen.

Can I return unused packs?

  • If you have any unopened packs to return, you may do so within 28 days of delivery/collection from us. 

    Please note: Special Order products, Clearance Items & Stair Runners cannot be cancelled or returned. If you require more information on this then please contact us at help@floorstreet.co.uk.

    To qualify for a refund, please ensure that the products are returned in their original packaging unopened, complete with all accompanying parts and accessories.

    It’s your responsibility to arrange all returns and cover costs incurred. ​​We recommend using either National Pallets or Parcel2Go to return your items.

    We will initiate the refund process only after inspecting the goods and verifying that they have been returned in their original condition. Refunds will be processed no later than 14 days after receipt of the returned items.

    Refunds can take up to 10 working days to appear in customers accounts.

If you are holding my items how long of a notice period before you can delivery my items?

  • Please give our team at Floor Street 7 days from the time you notify us, so we can prepare your order for delivery.

On delivery day, what time should I expect my flooring order?

  • You will receive a delivery date via email. As for an expect delivery time, this will be between 9am and 6pm on the day of your delivery. Sometimes couriers may get in contact with you on the day of delivery to offer you a tracking link/time window. However, this is not always guaranteed as different couriers operate differently in different areas.
  • Please note: Drivers usually call ahead in advance and then again when they are at the property. They will wait at the property for up to 15 minutes and can also drop it off on your driveway/in front of the house ONLY with your permission.

What is SPC (Stone Plastic Composite)?

  • Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring is a rigid core luxury vinyl tile that is made to look and feel like natural wood while offering advantages over traditional material. SPC flooring is an innovation in the flooring world and has greatly increased in popularity for its ease of installation, durability, waterproof qualities and aesthetic looks.

What is LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile)?

  • Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) offers many benefits, some of them being cost effective, improved scratch resistance and waterproof. LVT will imitate materials such as stone, marble and wood.

What is Laminate?

  • Laminate flooring is a multi-layer flooring product, synthetically made and put together in a lamination process. Laminate flooring will replicate the look of wood and sometimes stone. Laminate flooring is a lot easier to install compared to real wood/ engineered wood. This makes it a lot easier for DIY homeowners to install.

What is Engineered Wood/ Real Wood Flooring?

  • Engineered wood flooring looks the same to hardwood on the surface, but engineered wood is made from a high-quality plywood core with a thin layer of hardwood flooring on top. Engineered wood can be a lot more affordable option to give that real wood finish and feel.

What is Click System flooring?

  • Click system flooring is a simple mechanism for DIY fitting. This allows two planks to fit together and ‘click’ into one another and locks the flooring to each plank.

What is Glue Down flooring?

  • Glue down flooring means you secure the floor planks to the subfloor using a bonding agent or adhesive.

  • Weekly intensive cleaning - Mop and bucket with suitable laminate cleaning solution.
  • We do not advice to use a steam mop as temperatures can be too high and can cause damage.
  • We always recommend vacuuming the floor beforehand.
