Mental Well-being: Nurturing Mind, Body, and Space
As this week is Mental Health Week, the Floor Street team thought it was the perfect time to discuss our mission statement “to take care of their minds, body and space through education, innovation and quality products and services.” In this short blog we want to explain what taking care of your mind, body and space means to us.
Essentially, it all comes down to self care! Looking after yourself can be easier said than done, especially when we have millions of responsibilities and to do lists piling up. However, prioritising your self care practices will have a huge positive impact on not just your own life but the relationships you have with others.
First, start managing more time for yourself. Say ‘no’ to the social event this week and instead go to the gym or do the mountain of laundry you've been procrastinating from doing. This small adjustment is sure to make your mind and body feel reset for the next day. Another option is scheduling a couple of hours a week in your calendar, where you're away from your phone. This simple act opens up a world of opportunity away from scrolling where you could finally redecorate the room in the house you've neglected, start a new self care routine, such as drinking more water, journaling your thoughts/what you're grateful for/goals you want to meet this week etc. Doing these things consistently allows your mind to stay focused on your personal goals, reflect on your progress and allow for future growth.
How does this link into your space?
Well Floor Street really believes that the environment you're practising self care in is of the utmost importance. For example, imagine trying to relax in a dull, dirty, room with no windows. …Obviously not an enjoyable experience. If we added elements of comfort, colour and warmth it would change that experience entirely! A home is so much more than an aesthetic space, our homes reflect our personalities, interests, lifestyle and emotions. In other words we believe cleaning and maintaining the spaces within our homes keeps our minds less busy and improves our mental wellbeing. That's why we take such pride in upgrading our customers homes, because it is so much more than an aesthetic result.
In nurturing our minds, bodies, and spaces, we sow the seeds for a flourishing existence — one characterised by vitality, balance, and growth.
