Step inside Rachel & Lucas' calm, considered family home
A whole-house renovation built around soft light, warm wood, and space for family life to unfold.
When Rachel and Lucas got the keys to their house, they didn't wait. The renovation started the same day. The house needed everything — a complete transformation to bring it up to date and make it theirs. But the vision was clear from the start: calm, practical, and built for real family life.
“We wanted it to feel calming, a place where we could relax — but also a practical space that allowed for our daily needs. We have a little boy, so we wanted a space for him to play in.”

The heart of the home
The kitchen sets the tone for the whole house. Oak cabinetry, marble worktops, and Summer Oak Herringbone Engineered flooring running underfoot — light, warm, and quietly doing its job while the room around it fills with life. The herringbone catches the light from the garden doors and carries it through the open plan space, from the island to the dining table and out towards the play area beyond the French doors.
The moment of doubt
“We moved in later than planned and we had no kitchen at all, no washing machine or dryer. I was in my first trimester of pregnancy and we have a little boy. It was chaotic! But we managed by driving to friends to wash our kids; clothes and getting creative with a camping stove and lots of pasta.”
From the ground up
The whole house is Floor Street, top to bottom. Summer Oak Herringbone Engineered flows through the ground floor. The Sleek Street stair runner — bordered in black — carries you upstairs, where Sleek Street carpet softens every room above.
“We are so happy with the wooden flooring — it's exactly the shade and style we were aiming for and looks stunning. We get so many compliments on it when people come in. The carpet from the first floor up is soft, nice on your feet and has a really premium feel to it.”
Room to grow
Upstairs, the bedrooms are calm and cocooning — soft carpet underfoot, warm neutrals, and touches of colour in velvet and pattern. The nursery is ready for its newest arrival, styled in burnt orange and cream.
